Footballers back on track

St Ultans 4-15 Moynalty 1-9

St Ultans got back on track in their Junior Championship campaign with victory over Moynalty. The game was played in Kells in perfect conditions.

Ultans led by a point at the waterbreak with the scores coming from Mark Allen (2), Gearoid Rennicks and Tommy Buchanan. Moynalty edged in front with two points but Ultans finished the first half strongly with points from Gearoid Rennicks (2), Tommy Buchanan and Darragh Reilly. Ultans finished the half with the first goal of the game when Darragh Reilly set up Ronan Breslin to finish to the net to leave five points between the sides at break.  

The sides continued to exchange scores over the third quarter and Ultans led by seven entering the final quarter. Moynalty fought back with a penalty and a good score from play to leave just three between the sides but this was to be Moynalty’s last score as the Ultans defence closed out any attacks. Ultans were determined to leave with the points and closed out the game in impressive fashion with a strong team performance and notable contributions from the bench. Three goals from Mark Allen (2) and Ruairi Buchanan and three points from play from Ruairi Buchanan finished the scoring.

Next up from Ultans in the final group game is Slane in two weeks.
