St Ultans 3-16 Syddan 2-5
St Ultans reserve side bounced back from defeat last week in impressive fashion and picked up the two points on offer on Sunday.
Ultans first score was a goal from Darren Kavanagh with a powerful finish after some great work from wing back Oisin Durcan. Syddan responded well with two impressive scores from distance but placed balls from Darren Kavanagh and Gearoid Rennicks kept Ultans in control. Simon Yore in the Ultans goal did well to deny Syddan on a number of occasions in the first half and Ultans continued to extend their lead with another point from Kavanagh and a great effort from Dylan Byrne after an impressive run. Defensively Ultans started getting on top with fine performances from debutant Barry Fitzsimons and Odhran Murray at full back. Full Forward Aaron Smyth found the net after some great work from Luke Griffin. Kyle Cosgrove scored to cancel out a further Syddan point which left the men in Green and Black in control at halftime.
Alex Casserly scored a brace of points either side of a Syddan point, to start the second half, that score was to be the last for Syddan for 20 minutes as Ultans dominated the scoreboard. Points from Buchanan, Kavanagh, Luke Cahill, Johnny Foster and Darren Mallon and a Buchanan goal left Ultans as comfortable winners despite Syddan raising two green flags late in the game.
Next up for the Reserve side is St Michael next Saturday.
