Late point secures win in Kilbride

St Ultans 0-17 Kilbride 1-13

A late Darragh Reilly point secured victory for St Ultans over Kilbride in the Tailteann Cup.

Ultans opened brightly with points from play from Ruairi and Tommy Buchanan and a  converted mark from Adam Rogers left them 3 points to no score after 8 minutes. Four unanswered points for Kilbride gave them a narrow lead going into the water break. Kilbride continued to dominate for the remainder of the half with a well taken goal and some excellent scores from play giving them a six point lead at the break. Ultans two scores in this period came from a Ruairi Buchanan free a well taken score from Darragh Reilly.

Ultans emerged far more determined in the second half and outscored their opponents six points to two, with the Ultans scores coming from Martin Dolan, Tommy Buchanan, Darragh Reilly and three well taken frees from Ruairi Buchanan. Kilbride scored a free to extend their lead to three but a period of dominance with scores from Martin Dolan, Ciaran Rogers, Mark Allen, Ruairi Buchanan free and a superb score from distance from Tommy Buchanan left Ultans leading by two. Kilbride battled back and with two late scores drew the game level. Ultans defended well and Darragh Reilly capped a fine individual performance with the winning score after a driving run. The defence stood tall for the remaining Kilbride attacks and secured  victory by the narrowest of margins.
