Tailteann Cup: Late ‘Ross’ rally sees points shared in cracking game

St Ultans 0-12 Carnaross 1-9

St Ultans and Carnaross shared the spoils in an entertaining game in perfect conditions in Sean Newman Park.

The first score of the game came inside the first two minutes as Carnross hit the net after a well taken penalty. Adam Rogers pointed after a mark but Carnaross struck back with two points. Ruairi Buchanan added a free and a fine effort from play from Emmet Costello left two between the sides at the water-break. Carnaross extended their lead with two further points but these were cancelled out by a Buchanan free and a great score from play from the same player. The sides exchanged further points with Breslin pointing for the men in green and black. A fine save from Ultans keeper Keith Hennessy left just two between the sides at the break.

Ultans were much improved after the break and a brace of frees from Ruairi Buchanan and a two superb points from Tommy Buchanan drew the sides level in the final quarter.  Ultans looked to have pushed on with two scores from the impressive Adam Rogers however a late rally from Carnaross saw them battle back with late scores to draw the match.  It was a much improved performance from St Ultans with young players making a huge contribution. Next up for St Ultans in the Tailteann Cup is the visit of Moynalty next Wednesday while they also take on Syddan in the Premier Championship on Sunday.
