St Ultans 2-16
Longwood 1-6
St Ultans league Division 9 team started their campaign with a win after a frustrating period of no games due to unplayable pitches. Ultans had the better of the exchanges in the first half and were leading by six points when Ciaran Rogers got in behind the Longwood defence and finished to the roof of the net. The points in the first half came from Gearoid Rennicks, Luke Cahill, Ciaran Rogers and five from the boot of Alex Casserly, four of those coming from open play.
Ultans extended their lead further with Alex Casserly, Conor Finnegan (2) and Luke Cahill raising white flags. Ultans were reduced to 14 temporarily with a black card but the defence and work throughout the team and the introduction of substitutes minimised any damage on the scoreline and further points from Rogers, Cahill, Casserly and Barry Brady and a goal from Casserly ensured Ultans would leave with points. Longwood finished strongly and hit the net in closing stages.
